Slow down to speed up
At first Slow down to speed up seems to be counter intuitive. It’s not.
To everyone preparing for SQE 2 this month and SQE1 in July — you’re doing something incredibly challenging.
As we celebrate Easter weekend, take a moment to breathe. Studying for the SQE is a marathon, not a sprint. You’ve been working hard, balancing complex legal topics, mock exams, and revision schedules.
Remember your mental health and well-being is just as important as your preparation.
Use this weekend to recharge — spend time with loved ones, enjoy a walk, watch a film, or simply relax without guilt. Rest isn’t wasted time; it’s essential. A calm, rested mind absorbs more, thinks clearer, and performs better.
Give your brain some space to breathe.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, know that you’re not alone. There are many folks studying for the SQE, facing the same doubts and pressures. Celebrate the small wins, acknowledge your efforts, and don’t be afraid to step back for a moment to move forward. Taking care of your mental health now will serve you well during the exams and beyond in your legal career.
Remember you just need enough to pass the SQE exam. The exam does not define you, it’s a step towards becoming a solicitor.
The SQE journey requires strength, knowledge, and compassion — including compassion for yourself. It’s okay to take a break. It’s okay to enjoy Easter. You’re allowed joy, even in the middle of hard work.
Wishing you peace, clarity, and moments of joy this Easter.
You’ve got this!
